Therukoothu is a folk art form practiced in Tamil Nadu. The actors themselves sing, dance, and deliver dialogues while performing acts of Ramayan, Mahabharata, Tamil epics or Harish Chandra stories. The artists adorn heavy makeup and costume. The male actors dressed up as female characters as it’s a male dominated art form.
